Our congregants love to get together socially. In the past we’ve held Las Vegas nights, Shabbat Dinner Clubs and pool parties at Pauline and Troy's house. We have a number of temple social groups. Our "over 50" Young-at-Hearts is our most active group meeting monthly for dinners and participating in torah study. We also have a women's dinner/movie group and a newly formed book club.
Members of our congregation participate in local community organizations that promote understanding of various religions. Whether it be attending GVIN (Grand Valley Interfaith Network) meetings, to community outreach, we are visible in the community.
Holocaust Rememberance Service
Every year Ohr Shalom celeberates Yom HaShoah, the rememberance of the Holocaust. We have a service that is open to the public.
Last year we also sold yellow candles from URJ and used the proceeds to send to Israel to for humanitarian aid.
This year we will use the proceeds to help with Darfur.
