Our History

Since the turn of the century there have been Jews living on the western slope of Colorado.  In 1977, a group of families formally incorporated the Jewish Community of Grand Junction.  They created by-laws, a yearly budget, and a board of directors.

But according to a Grand Junction history timeline, in 1954, the Jewish Congregation of Grand Junction was chartered.

Our Synagougue

Today, our community maintains its own building as a synagogue and a religious school.  We are conveniently located downtown by Grand Junction High School at 441 Kennedy Avenue.

A Whole new Shul

Congratulations to Matthew and his committee (98% Matthew) for bringing to fruition a beautiful new sanctuary building.  We have new carpet, new paint, new cabinets, new flooring, a properly venting bimah, new doors.  Like any remodeling project, once you demo what needs to be done, you find a whole new host of opportunites.  But we are lucky to have Matthew and our contractor who were able to get this all done.

See the pictures or come see for yourself.  We now have cherry cabinets and 3 coordinating paint colors.

The remodeling was fininshed just in time for The High Holiday's and the school year.  Above are pictures of the putting the shul back together workday in August, 07.
